Warren Frost

WARREN FROST: “If he wants to stand, so be it!”

Warren Frost will be making his mixed martial arts’ debut in his home town as GWFC 1 hits the Bedworth civic hall on February 21st.

He took the time out of training to share his feelings on his first fight and what it's going to be like fighting on his doorstep.

How are you feeling leading up to your first fight?

I’m feeling great thanks. Feel powerful and as fit as I’ve ever been, confident I can get the right result!

What made you decide to start competing now?

Well I’ve been thinking about it for some time now. I think I am the right age now to challenge myself and I see this as one of the best ways of doing that basically.

Your opponent (Stephen Poole) will be making his 5th appearance. Do you think experience will be a big factor?

It doesn’t really matter who my opponent is! Records are irreverent to me. I’m just grateful that I’m getting the chance to challenge myself. Can’t wait to get in there! I am loving every aspect of the sport at the minute. The training is hard but the reward will outweigh that. I’m really excited!

Early days, but have you thought of a game plan for the fight?

No. I haven’t really got one. I know I need to stay relaxed and look for openings. If he wants to stand then so be it, if he wants to take it to the ground then fine. I’m comfortable with every aspect of my capabilities.

What training are you doing to prepare for it?

I’ve been working on my cardio more than anything; hill sprints for my power burst and weighted long distance runs to help my recovery time. I’ve also done a lot of work on my clinch/dirty boxing because I think this could be a major factor in this fight.

We can expect to see a huge following on the night. Will this be extra pressure or are you relish the thought of it?

Again I find that irrelevant. It doesn’t matter to me because I know what I have to do and whether there is 10 or 100 people there, you can’t take them in the cage with you (laughs)

This may depend on how the fight goes but can you see yourself sticking to mma?

Who knows, this might not be the last you see of me!
